Hi Everyone!

I am so excited to be working with this year's 6th graders! We're off to a good start. I just wanted to fill everyone in on some of the songs we're working on.

We started off the year with some warm-ups that we'll use for the entirety of the year. These warm-ups are songs themselves, and many times can be sung in canons and rounds to encourage independent part singing, which will be vital to us as we prepare for our three concerts this year.

We are working on "The Tailor of Gloucester" (an English folksong about a mouse), "In My Heart" (a song by an American composer about encouraging kids to believe in themselves), and today we sang "True Colors" in unison. Both of the 6th grade choirs had some really great conversations about why it's important that people be themselves and that we should respect people for who they are. Their singing was nice too :)

Best,

Ms. Neuberger
